Before you can purchase a new phone number in Zendesk Talk and Text, certain countries have specific regulations that require you to verify your business. Use this article to learn about the business information and documents you'll need to submit before you can purchase a Talk or Text number. To verify your business with Talk, follow the steps in Verifying your business for Zendesk Talk phone number purchasing .
Note:Not all numbers may be available at a point in time but we'll always work to get your requested numbers from our phone number provider as quickly as possible.

Choose a country

Please choose a country from the list to find out more about the address and documentation requirements you'll need to provide.
  • If a number type offering is marked asBeta, you'll need to initiate a request to join the Beta program before gaining access to them within the product. A link to the form, located next to the 'Availability' section, will be easily accessible for this purpose, and the form will provide instructions for the following steps.
  • If a country requires an ‘Executed Letter of Authorization’, you can access ithere. Make a copy, fill in your details as necessary, then send it back to us.
  • Where an authorized representative is required, this is a person who is authorized to act on behalf of the business and can be anyone the company nominates.Typically they need to be mentioned on business registration documents or have a notarized power of attorney showing they are authorized.

Portable numbers

To port Geographic (local) numbers, include the category type.

  • Geographic (local) numbers (+61 2, +61 3, +61 7, +61 8)
  • Mobile numbers (+61 4)
  • Toll-free and shared-cost numbers (+61 1300, +61 1800)
  • Toll-free 13 numbers (+61 13XX)
Restrictions
  • Most international phone numbers have VOICE capability only. Only Mobile numbers have VOICE and SMS.
  • To port Category-C geographic numbers with associated ranges, port those numbers together or disassociate them prior porting. To expedite, confirm the category of your geographic numbers with your current service provider prior to submitting your porting request.
Required information
  • Letter of Authorization (LOA)dated within the last 30 days. You can copy theLoA template, fill it in, then upload it to the Console.
  • Applicable regulatory compliance documentation (above).
  • Copy of the most recent phone bill (within last 30 days).
  • For Geographic numbers only, confirm the category of the desired port:
    • CAT A (simple port). Confirm with your current service provider that your phone numbers have no attached complex services.
    • CAT C (complex port). Attached complex services (e.g., ISDN, Line Hunt, etc.) will be cancelled during porting.
Timeframe

After you've submitted all required information and documentation, it can take up to six weeks, depending on the complexity of the port and the time required by the current service provider.

In addition to porting, new toll-free numbers can be activated on Zendesk Talk. To do so, provide the purchase confirmation from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) instead of a phone bill.

  • Austrian local numbers are often assigned in ranges. Some ranges are assigned as a set of separate numbers and some only as master numbers with extensions. Check which setup you have before porting to ensure you know how many actual numbers you have.
  • Often conditions of service contracts are limiting for porting opportunities. Check with your current provider if there are any timeframe restrictions on porting. Oftentimes the service contract does not allow immediate porting.

Restrictions

Most numbers are portable. In rare cases, Twilio may not have rate-center (geographic) coverage for particular phone numbers.
Required information

Most mobile operators require account numbers and PINs to port; some providers also require account PINs to port out. Before porting, check with your current provider to see whether a PIN is required and, if so, what it is.

Your LOA must show your actual Canadian service address for the number(s) to be ported. Zendesk will send this document to your current provider to request the numbers' release; the address must match their records.

The most common reasons for a rejected port include:

  • Incorrect postcode
  • Single versus multi-line geographic numbers. Associated numbers must be ported together as a range. To determine whether your number is a single- or multi-line number, reach out to your current service provider.
  • Incorrect current provider and or range holder information. Check with your current provider and the range holder of your phone number(s)
  • Click to check therange holder. However, information about the current provider can only be confirmed by that provider
